Before Sowing
Keep Trichoderma in a gunny bag or castor leaves for multiplication and apply it to the soil before sowing.
If sowing with a seed drill, provide pre-irrigation and sow groundnut only when the soil has sufficient moisture under favorable conditions.
Give the first irrigation 24–48 hours after sowing.
Seed Treatment
- Treat seeds with appropriate fungicides and insecticides.
- Seed treatment with Rhizobium culture and phosphorus-solubilizing biofertilizers should be done before sowing. After biofertilizer treatment, sow the seeds immediately and do not delay.
- Alternatively, apply Trichoderma treatment before sowing.
Purpose of Seed Treatment:
FIR (Fungicide, Insecticide, Rhizobium)
Why is Seed Treatment Necessary?
- Ensures better germination.
- Protects against harmful fungi.
- Groundnut kernels contain a high amount of oil, which increases the chances of fungal infection. As a result, seeds may rot in the soil and fail to germinate. Therefore, seed treatment is extremely important.
- Seed treatment is essential to protect the crop from seed-borne diseases and to achieve a healthy crop stand.
